A sarcophagus is a box-like funeral receptacle for a corpse, most commonly carved in stone and usually displayed above ground but can also be buried.
In 2018, two unopened coffins, dated 3,000 years old were discovered. One coffin contained a well-preserved mummy of a woman.
Luxor has frequently been named the “world’s greatest open-air museum” as it is a ruins of the temple complexes with Karnak nearby. Immediately opposite, across the Nile River, lie monuments, temples and tombs which includes the Valley of the Kings and The Valley of the Queens.
Luxor was the ancient city of Thebes, the great capital of Upper Egypt during the New Kingdom.
