In 1922, Howard Carter, a British Archeologist, discovered Tutankhamun tomb and it was nearly intact.
Tutankhamun meaning “Living image of Aten”, was the last of his royal family to rule during the end of the 18th dynasty – 1334-1325 BC. His father was the pharaoh Akhenaten. His mother was his father’s sister.
Tutankhamun took the throne at 8 years of age. He was physically disabled with a deformity of his left foot along with bone necrosis that required the use of a cane. He had other health issues including scoliosis and had contracted several strains of malaria.
